Senior Software Development Engineer - Ruby - Amazon Web Services - Berlin (m/f) at Amazon (Berlin, Germany)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced Ruby developer for the development of a high-scale infrastructure management service making it easier to manage AWS resources.

A successful candidate will be a hands-on developer with an established background in distributed systems, complex architectures, and/or data storage.

You will be responsible for architecting, developing, and operating a highly scalable distributed system that powers thousands of servers. You should have strong technical abilities, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

You will be highly customer-focused and able to learn in depth about existing software development tools. You will be comfortable working in an agile environment that regularly delivers quality releases and responds quickly to user needs. Most of all, you should love creating things and take pride in building cool applications for customers.

  • 6+ years of software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Ruby development.
  • 2+ years of experience in another programming language like Java, C/C++, Perl, Python or JavaScript development.
  • Strong OO design and coding skills.
  • Fluent in data structures, algorithms, and asynchronous architectures.
  • Fluent English languages skills.
  • Willing to relocate to Berlin, Germany.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related degree.
  • Keen interest in the latest web technologies and strong desire to build the next great web app.
  • Experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems.
  • Experience owning mission critical, 24x7 systems.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment using Scrum and Test Driven Development.
  • Experience with Chef or Puppet are a plus.
  • Start-up experience.
