General Manager - Systems Development (.NET 4/4.5, C#, SQL) at Jet2.com (Leeds, United Kingdom)

Reporting to the Head of IT Business Systems, the General Manager – Systems Development is responsible for the overall delivery of the internally developed eCommerce solutions at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays ensuring they meet quality standards, are delivered on time and to budget.

This is a vital role whose primary focus will be the overall delivery of the eCommerce systems within Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays, managing and scheduling resources and the transfer of information from the eCommerce systems to the Business Intelligence platform. We have developed our own eCommerce systems that have over 5 million lines of code, get 200,000+ visits a day and handle over £3million worth of revenue on a daily basis. Supporting double or triple digit growth year on year with multiple concurrent projects, we use SCRUM as our development methodology and have qualified SCRUM masters.

You will contribute to the overall delivery within IT Business Systems, ensuring a cohesive approach across the Senior Management Team and that effective processes are used to maximise development time within the iterative approach we follow. You will also be expected to provide key input to the processes and delivery plans and work closely with nominated key position holders within other business areas. The ability to manage multiple work streams, resources (permanent, UK contract and offshore) and priorities are essential as well as managing the expectations of stakeholders in the delivery of internally developed IT solutions.

One of the key measures of success of this role will be how you contribute and support other areas of the Team, in particular creating effective strategies for efficient Quality Assurance (QA) to maximise development man days.

The successful candidate will understand the Company’s business and its operation, with particular reference to the low cost passenger market. You will have in depth experience of software development using Microsoft products (Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010; Team Foundation Server/Visual Studio Team Server; SQL Server 2005/2008; .NET Framework 3/3.5/4.0/4.5; Windows Server 2003/2008; virtualization of application tiers) and have proven experience of leading teams using an Agile delivery method.

You must be adaptable, effective working under pressure and to tight timescales, with excellent leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
