Software Development Engineer - Security Intelligence at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

Software Engineers at Amazon have strong desire for solving complex and interesting problems. You will architect and implement core functionalities and critical enhancements to security intelligence tools to make Amazon the most secure computing environment available. Our tools enable us to present a coherent view of our internal environment and enhance contextual awareness to support detection, incident response, and investigation.

We are looking for a strong software development engineer who is passionate about developing intelligence tools in innovative ways. You will contribute to all aspects of the software development life cycle including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. If you enjoy developing high quality cutting-edge security solutions in a hyper-growth environment delivering actionable and comprehensive insight to threats and attacks/incidents, this position will provide you with a challenging and an exciting opportunity.

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in development using Ruby or Java.
  • Solid experience developing software on the Linux platform.
  • Proven experience with at least one major RDBMS at large scale. Good mastery of SQL.
  • Experience with Hadoop and atleast one major NoSQL datastore.
  • Self-directed, ability to multi-task, sharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven design skills and able to find creative scalable solutions to difficult problems.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, internet security fundamentals and designing for performance, scalability and availability.
  • Excellent written communication and verbal agility are strong assets.

  • Experience with Ruby-on-Rails is a big plus.
  • Knowledge in security engineering, firewalls, system and network security is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Intrusion Detection/Prevention, security threats, exploits, trends, and mitigations is preferred.
  • Have strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive to deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Machine Learning techniques, both supervised and unsupervised.
  • Experience with SCRUM/Agile software development practices.
