Our software development strategy is agile and we work in small Scrum teams of 5-7. We do several rollouts every day, are data-driven and do extensive A/B testing. Our technical culture derives strongly from our strong ties to the Perl community. Even if you do not know Perl, Booking’s Perl rock stars will help you get up to speed in order to be able to start solving real problems from day one. 



Your main focus as a Team LeadSoftware Development is leading your team of software developers to success. To get to know our technical environment you will start off as a hands-on Software Developer in the first few months. Your responsibilities will include:



  • Leading a team of 4-5 software developers;

  • Working with the team and the product owner to define a prioritized backlog of stories that the team will tackle during a given sprint;

  • Working closely together with other teams to ensure a stable and reliable product.

  • Being fully hands-on in terms of writing code and participating in software development projects;

  • Playing an active role in developing new features for a high performance, scalable web platform;

  • Assessing and communicating how your work impacts business and other systems;

  • Monitoring team’s progress and take ownership of removing any impediments that slow the team down;

  • Mentoring people on the team and help them improve their game;



B.skilled




  • You have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on software development experience;

  • You have experience with coding in more than one programming language, e.g. Python, C, C++, C#, Java, Ruby or PHP;

  • You are eager to learn Perl;

  • You are comfortable with being hands-on, i.e. code writing and problem solving;

  • You are an open source fanatic;

  • You have a sound understanding of programming fundamentals and they application to highly scalable web based systems;

  • You have led a small team;

  • You have a pragmatic outlook and excellent communication skills.
