As Interaction Designer at Coolblue you will make sure your colleagues can do their work efficiently and will be able to complete their tasks easier.

What you tell your friends you do
"I make sure that everyone at Coolblue can do their jobs without the need for manuals."

What you will really be doing

  • Making the use of Coolblue's back-office system more intuitive every single day.

  • Making the look and feel of functionalities and complex data clearer and simpler.

  • Translating the demands of your colleagues into user-friendly designs.

How will you be doing this?

  • You are an all-rounder in a Scrum team. You will have your own specialization, but you will also be able to perform all other tasks within the team.

  • You prioritize your own work together with your team and Product Owner. You will receive immediate feedback from end users and you will have a lot of opportunities to experiment.

  • You will be using the right tools for whatever job will be thrown at you. Choices that were made in the past are not rules.

  • You will work in a motivated team to meet ambitious deadlines. There is always a budget for good ideas.

  • Big data is your guru, your gut feeling isn't. To measure is to know.

What we have worked on last quarter
Recently, improving the usability of our websites has been the top priority. Now, the back-office system is in need of similar improvements. That's where you come in.

What a day in the office might look like
You start the day off with a stand-up meeting, where everyone discusses their recent activities and the tasks on the agenda for today. You went to see Jorieke yesterday, who is one of our conversion managers, to discuss how she could best create a new digital camera in our back-office system. Before you were going to work your magic this was a tedious job, so she is happy that this is about to be changed. You have directly translated her wishes into a wireframe, and today you will have the design tested by Jorieke. This results in a strengthening of your design and now, together with Richard, a back-office developer from your team, you will be able to really work out your flow. The improved functionality is a guarantee for some nods and smiles during the upcoming demo.

Team
You will be working in a team with three to five other developers, each of them with their own specialization, ranging from PHP to Javascript. Your team will be managed by a Scrum Master and a Product Owner.
