As a Senior UX Designer at Coolblue you will be responsible for creating user-friendly websites with high conversion rates.

What you tell your friends you do
"I make sure that the elderly are also able to place an order at Coolblue."

What you will really be doing

  • Translating the wishes of customers into a user-friendly design.

  • Converting your designs into HTML and CSS.

  • Making creative and progressive designs while keeping our branding in mind.

  • Coach and provide feedback to fellow UX Designers.

How will you be doing this?

  • You are an all-rounder in a Scrum team. Besides your own specialization you will learn to perform all other tasks within the team.

  • You prioritize your own work together with your team and Product Owner. You will receive immediate feedback from end users and you will have a lot of opportunities to experiment.

  • You will be using the right tools for whatever job will be thrown at you. Choices that were made in the past are not rules.

  • You will work in a motivated team to meet ambitious deadlines. There is always a budget for good ideas.

  • Big data and experience are your gurus, your gut feeling isn't. To measure is to know.

What we have worked on last quarter

  • Mobile. We used existing code to make sure all of our 280 web shops became available on mobile devices. Every two weeks, new functionalities were introduced in phases.

  • Responsive design. One codebase, lots of devices, but always the optimal user experience.

What a day in the office might look like
You fire up your PC and quickly check out Google Analytics to see the first results of the changes made on Checkout that went live yesterday. Customers seem to be making their way through the process more smoothly. Good stuff! After discussing with your team what everyone's tasks will be for the day you get started on the design of a new product page. You make sure all the important information is placed above the fold and quickly chat with your fellow UX Designers about how to structure all that information. To make sure you have made the right choices you translate your design into a prototype. Tomorrow you will organise a usability test to see if customers share your enthusiasm about this new design.

Team
You will be working in a team with three to five developers, each of them with their own specialization, ranging from PHP to Javascript. Your team will be managed by a Scrum Master and a Product Owner.
