Oakley is looking for a web systems architect to enhance and evolve our eCommerce platform and services. This position would work on a variety of projects within our eCommerce development team. The ideal candidate would provide specific architectural vision in addition to deep analysis and problem solving. This is a hands-on role in the application of technologies and processes, from proof-of-concept and reference implementations, through to production systems. The role also involves education and evangelism within eCommerce, and other teams within the organization. This education and evangelism would promote the concepts that we are most passionate about, including: The design of software and systems, application development best practices, technical roadmap, and any new technologies we’re using (or just think are cool and worth knowing about). This position requires exceptional technical design and analysis skills, and the ability to effectively communicate precisely and accurately across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate would be able to form, express, and defend reasoned opinions, with a spirit of collaboration and problem solving.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design web application frameworks and architecture for large-scale, complex, scalable systems designed to support customers internationally, 24x7, determining specifications and working parameters for hardware/software interoperability, accounting for scalability, maintainability and security within design
- Works to enhance the existing architecture, proposing the new alternatives in the areas of security, performance and scalability
- Design reviews and Code reviews from the architectural point of view
- Ensures the technical quality of project deliverables
- Operate independently with minimal direction, set direction and bring ideas and solutions to issues raised
- Communication of project issues in timely manner with other Developers, Project Managers, QA and Sys Admin team
- Contribute to the development of reusable components
- Mentoring of developers and teammates
- Keep up to date with latest eCommerce trends and apply them to solve business challenges
- Provide technical guidance for internal and external partners and developers, engineers, database, security, infrastructure and network administrators, supporting the objectives of the Ecommerce team
- Serve as a key consultant to business management in short and long-range company planning concerning areas of technology advancement, particularly in consumer and front-end technologies
- Evaluate, prototypes and advocate for new web application technologies, maintain tools and contribute to changes that improve value
- Lead and contribute to architectural reviews, impact assessments and estimation processes
- Create standard operating procedures, documents systems architectures, and presents concepts and best practices to stakeholders
- Collaborate with other Architects and teams to specify efficient, integrated tools, code management practices, testing processes and workflows
