The Global R&D Software Organization within Dematic is responsible for delivering standard software products to support a wide range of conveyor and sortation solutions, warehouse automation, and distribution operations. Development teams are distributed across multiple locations in Germany and U.S., as well as Waterloo, Ontario.
As a Software Developer on the Analytics team, you will have the exciting opportunity to help build a new development team in Waterloo. You will have hands-on responsibility for designing, implementing, and testing a new Analytics platform to help Dematic global customers compare sites and conduct predictive analysis, optimize the performance and throughput of their warehouse and distribution systems, and manage equipment effectiveness and maintenance.
You must have a passion for understanding customers, their supply chains and the complex data relationships between all components of the supply chain. You must be driven to come up with innovative ideas, and working collaboratively with other talented people to put those ideas into products.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement new Analytics platform to support wide range of customer deployments
Develop a scalable solution for single deployment up to cloud services
Lead or contribute to software architecture and database design
Work with peers on code reviews, refactoring
Write test cases within automated test framework for all development
Work within a Scrum environment to plan and deliver incremental software in defined sprints
Proven ability to work directly with customers to understand requirements and elicit feedback
Support process transformation to Agile methods across global software organization and company
Build development tools to support full software engineering lifecycle including test automation
Build strong partnerships with other architects, technical leads and project managers
Build out development toolset to support complete lifecycle from requirements through to testing
Travel to other Dematic sites with some frequency (particularly in the first six months)
