For a teacher, a classroom shifting to Google Apps translates into a denial-of-service attack on their inbox. The cloud platforms are built for 1:1 communication, not 30:1, and the scale drowns the teachers in alerts, updates, requests to share, and lists of email addresses.
Education is in the middle of a digital transformation, and we're driving it forward by giving teachers the information they need to be effective participants in the digital classroom.
You'll work on products that serve millions of requests a day into a global audience, and you'll help us scale—by orders of magnitude. Our core technologies use platform API's to organise student work and automate teacher workflow, and we run into many exciting distributed systems probl^Wopportunities.
You’ll build and run our development team of happy smart people. You’ll need to understand what they do, how they do their best work, and what they need to grow in their careers; manage their availability for projects; initially run our Scrum process; negotiate delivery times of new features; coordinate with support team around bug fixes; communicate with the rest of the company on delivery progress; manage architecture and provider decisions; and build the best team to move us ahead quickly.
Have you ever had a teacher burst into a smile at the sight of your t-shirt, and thank you profusely? You will. You’ll work in scrum teams to solve hard engineering problems around scaling products that make customers happy. This will involve some design, a lot of coding, some testing. You’ll be supported by excellent team members specifically handling UX, QA, and product.
