The Prime and Delivery Experience Team is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer In Test II (SDET) to provide both coding and testing expertise for our team, as well as be a constant advocate for our customers. Our preferred candidate possesses a high level of coding aptitude, combined with a demonstrated passion for Quality Assurance.
Our SDETs support a centralized QA team that works on Amazon’s international delivery programs such as Super Saver Shipping, Add-ons, and Amazon Prime. The Amazon Prime program offers customers a premium level of service, offering customers free two-day shipping and a variety of digital benefits. There are millions of Prime members worldwide and they are some of Amazon’s most active and valuable customers.
During 2014, our team is working to modernize our testing and deployment process, using software QA processes such service level automation and continuous deployment. Our SDETs write code to test code using automation frameworks, as well as create and maintain testing tools that include testing frameworks and test data retrieval. They are able to understand software internals, debug code, automate repetitive tasks, and implement new tools and frameworks needed to streamline our QA process. Our SDETs work directly with both Software Development Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to understand project features, review technical implementations, and implement testing strategy. They also work with Product Managers, User Experience Design specialists, and Customer Support personnel as required to understand use cases. Our SDETs understand customer usage models and are able to develop test plans and test cases that approximate real-world environments and scenarios. They create and execute automated regression tests, do manual testing when necessary, and are responsible for driving our software development process towards quality-centric methodologies.

- 5+ years overall SDET and/or development experience.
- Ability to write quality code in multiple level languages like Java, C, C# etc.
- Demonstrated experience in test planning, test design, test strategy, and test execution.
- Automation architecture development and/or maintenance experience.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
- Practical coding experience with automated web testing tools, services, and physical devices.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with Demonstrated QA experience in an SDET or QAE role.
- Experience with user-level automation frameworks and scripting via Perl, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate impacts and to understand business requirements.
- Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to track multiple test executions simultaneously and synthesize results.
- Creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness for the entire team.
- Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings.
- Experienced in Agile or Scrum software development methodologies.
