We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented, inventive Technical Program Manager to deliver mission-critical initiatives for AmazonFresh. As the TPM of a team focused on the website customer experience, you will have broad responsibility of multiple website features that help customers discover and purchase products. You will work directly with product managers, user experience designers, development managers, and business leaders within the AmazonFresh team and numerous teams throughout Amazon.com. You will work with emerging technologies across web, mobile and operations to deliver programs with high quality and customer focus in order to meet business needs.
This role requires hands-on project management skills, deep technical expertise, and excellent leadership skills. You will be responsible for collecting business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will also be responsible for setting project management standards and expectations and delivering large, cross functional projects.
AmazonFresh is an Amazon.com company offering Seattle and Los Angeles customers same-day and early morning delivery of hundreds of thousands of Amazon items, including fresh grocery and local products. With a huge selection ranging from milk to electronics, customers can order by 10am and have their products delivered by dinner.
The AmazonFresh engineering team is responsible for the entire e-commerce software stack for this business, from the customer-facing website to mobile applications to inventory optimization and more. The team uses agile software development methodologies to solve complex technical problems in domains including distributed systems, website and mobile application development, personalization, product search, quantitative optimization, and usability.
- 5+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry, including hands-on management of large, cross-functional software efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
- Proficiency in SQL
- Experience working in an agile, specifically scrum, environment
- Experience managing efforts in Unix/Linux environments, distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong bias for action and "get it done" attitude
- Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically
- Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to scope technical requirements and prioritize
- Experience working in a budget and technical constrained environment and still being able to deliver results
- Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position
- A Masters in computer science or related technical discipline
- Proficiency in Perl, ruby, java, and other languages is strongly desired
