Senior Data Engineer, Amazon Prime at Amazon (Seattle)

Amazon Prime is looking for a talented Senior Data Engineer to help lead the development of platforms and tools to that will meet our ever-growing information needs and provide answers to increasingly complex business questions. At Amazon you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data environments.

As a Senior Data Engineer with Amazon Prime, you will work with our marketing, delivery experience, finance, and technology teams to provide the analytic technologies that give our customers timely, flexible and structured access to a complex data landscape. You’ll build and maintain database solutions that are used for daily reporting and drive business decision making while dealing efficiently with Amazon's massive scale of data. You will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of data solutions using Oracle, Redshift, and other tools, create simple and extensible data models optimized for reporting and analytics, build reports and dashboards, and oversee the administration of data and reporting platforms.

You will interact with business and technology owners to understand and document requirements, manage timelines and coordinate work with other teams. Your work must be accurate, timely, and insightful. You must be a self-starter and be able to learn on the go. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as you will work very closely with diverse teams and will need to exert influence on both business and technical teams to ensure that the best data practices are understood and followed.

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is experienced in data architecture and BI systems architecture, passionate about data-driven decision making, uncompromising about the details, smart, efficient, and driven to help our business succeed. You must know and love working with analytic tools and can write efficient SQL against huge data sets. You should be a hands-on expert in all of the data warehousing technical components (e.g. ETL, Reporting, Data Model), infrastructure (e.g. hardware and software) and their integration. You will be responsible for developing overall architecture and working with other data engineers to implement your designs. You must be customer focused and eager to help business users understand and use the reporting and analytical resources you create for them.

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related technical field
  • 7+ years experience in relational database development with expert knowledge of Oracle and writing ETL in PL/SQL.
  • 7+ years experience with relational and star schema data modeling concepts.
  • 5+ years experience with BI/DW architectures / data modeling.
  • 5+ years experience with notable BI reporting tools including administration, modeling, and development.
  • 3+ years experience with very large data sets.
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux, scripting, .
  • Experience working directly with business owners.
  • Experience with agile software development methods (Scrum, Lean, etc.)

  • Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).
  • Experience with AWS Redshift.
  • Experience with Big Data solutions.
  • Experience working with remote technical teams.
