We are looking for a Development Manager who will initially join the Sydney JIRA team in order to understand the secret sauce of JIRA development. You will then split your time between Sydney and Vietnam, helping recruit and establish a JIRA development team in Vietnam.
You will work with other parts of Atlassian to find the best Developers, Product Managers, Designers and QA engineering for this new team based in Vietnam. You will organize and define their on-boarding and Atlassian boot-camp induction. You set the mission for the team and define what success looks like for the team. You will be responsible for building a great team culture and strong local leadership. You will facilitate regular travel between the existing JIRA team in Sydney and the new team in Saigon to help build relationships and transfer knowledge.
You will grow the team to 25-30 people including Developers, Designers, Product Managers and QA engineers. You will establish a strong local leadership group, get the new teams into a steady delivery rhythm and build a successful working relationship with JIRA teams in other locations.
As the Saigon team becomes self sufficient you will have the opportunity to take on the leadership of teams in JIRA or elsewhere in Atlassian. You have the freedom to bring your own intuitions, ideas and distinct style to the role. You will be in charge of guiding, challenging and coaching your teams to individually grow and surpass their goals. What you will do:
Work with Recruitment to establish and onboard a JIRA development team in Saigon.
Build an effective working model between the JIRA teams in Saigon and those in Sydney.
Communicate status and risks on the Saigon growth plan back the JIRA Leadership Team
Act as the escalation point for the JIRA teams in Saigon back into the rest of Atlassian.
Pair with new team members to help quickly ramp technical skills.
Grow a motivated cross functional team, including strong local leadership, that continuously looks to improve and challenge themselves
Foster the Atlassian culture and ethic of the team
