Blurb enables people all over the globe to buy, sell and share books seamlessly through the Blurb platform and beyond. As a member of an agile software delivery team, you will be responsible for implementing automated solutions for testing the cutting-edge features we ship to our worldwide customer base. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you be also responsible for mentoring and technical guidance for our evolving testing infrastructure. You will research and bring new technologies and ideas to the team to pursue best-in-class automation solutions.
You are a coder and thrive by applying your technical skills to build elegant solutions to meet quality goals. You will debate requirements, defend standards, and write automated tests to ensure timely and bug-free releases of Blurb’s website, services, and content creation tools.

We're a group of tinkerers, makers, hackers, and language enthusiasts, who hail from companies like Electronic Arts, Apple, eBay, and ThoughtWorks as well as schools like UC Berkeley, Princeton and MIT. What we've done
- We delivered an entirely new author-focused user experience on Blurb.com.
- We built the user experience and backend systems allowing authors to sell their ebooks on Blurb.com and the Apple iBookstore, allowing seamless publishing of ebooks digitally on our platform and for native iBookstore purchasing on iOS devices.
- We built a submission workflow for author submission of books on Blurb.com onto Amazon.com, allowing our authors to list their books for sale on the world's largest retailer.
- We have continuous integration feedback loops on committed code (and pull requests) via GitHub-Jenkins-Jira feedback loops that update relevant build/deployment status and links everywhere.
- We maintain continuous integration suites totalling in the 10s of thousands of tests for our various systems.
- We built full-environment, multi-service deployment orchestration for completely automated push button deployments and rollbacks (including VM and network provisioning).
- We've adopted awesome, modern tools such as Jira, Jenkins, GitHub, CloudStack, AWS, SauceLabs, NewRelic, ErrBit, IntelliJ, Retina MacBooks.
- We have an Arduino controlled spotlight that shines red/green spotlights on the wall based on our primary build status.
Responsibilities
Your goal as Senior Quality Engineer will be to achieve high quality in our software releases by implementing integrated system automation coverage for new features and projects. You will guide continual improvement in our approaches and test system architecture, and share this knowledge through pairing, documentation, and presentations. You enjoy developing junior members of the team.
You will work closely with the development scrum team to ensure we are crafting elegant solutions for our expansive eCommerce platform, which facilities all aspects of printer routing, shipping, order fulfillment and customer support to our worldwide customer base.
You will work with the team to ensure that all stories have well defined acceptance criteria, test plans, and any hooks needed to enable testability. You thrive in a agile environment where pair-wise development is common and agile design decisions are made collaboratively every day.
