We’re looking for an experienced Frontend JavaScript Engineer to help build our industry-leading product, Yesware for Gmail. You’re someone who loves shipping beautiful user experiences built with equally beautiful code.
A little bit about Yesware: we’re a fast growing startup who provide a SaaS email productivity tool for salespeople, business owners, and other people who use email commercially. Our customers (who actually pay us money) love our product because it helps them rapidly increase sales and grow their businesses more quickly.
About the Role
You’ll work on our flagship product, Yesware for Gmail, which is used by over 450,000 people worldwide. It’s a Chrome and Firefox browser extension which augments the Gmail interface and talks to numerous backend services. You will also work on our application website which hosts a number of rich single page JavaScript applications.
You bring complex user interfaces to life. You enjoy working collaboratively with Interaction and Visual Designers to realize features that will delight our customers, but you’ve also got the ability to make reasonable interaction and visual choices when left to your own devices.
You have strong software engineering chops. You demonstrate mastery of JavaScript, are able to extract reusable libraries and plugins, are fluent with one or more JavaScript MVC frameworks such as Backbone and with testing frameworks like Jasmine.
We use Scrum and you’ll work side-by-side with a Product Manager, designers and your engineering colleagues to build a functionally delightful, valuable and high-quality product at a rapid pace. Your team will be responsible for the quality of what they produce, putting that code into production and keeping it healthy.
It’s a very exciting time here and we’d love for you to join us!

We do not have a QA team and we rely heavily on automated testing (our Ruby backend services have 95% or better line coverage.) We review every line of code which goes into production, utilize continuous integration and ship code multiple times a day. We have a monthly hack day. We use the best tools money can buy.
Our technology stack consists of a number of backend services written in Ruby on top of Postgres, MongoDB, Redis and S3. We deploy many times a day on Heroku and AWS. Our front end clients are written in JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3, Objective-C and C#.
We successfully closed our $14.7M B-series financing in the fall of 2013. Battery Ventures led that round and joined Google Ventures and Foundry Group who have supported us from the start. We’re lucky to have such a smart and supportive group of investors.
You can find us in our new 15th floor office in Downtown Boston conveniently located next to several Green Line, Red Line and Orange Line stops and Chinatown. We offer very competitive compensation comprised of salary, equity and bonus based on personal and company goals. We also offer a growing list of benefits: health, dental, 401(k), life insurance, flexible spending account, as well as gym and public transportation reimbursement. We have a very liberal vacation policy: go on vacation when you need a vacation.
